Got the tava today, arrived pretty quicker than estimated, wasn't as 'heavy duty' as I expected. Arrived brand new so gave it a wash immediately, with a non-scratch washing pad after removing the stickers from the base and cooking surface. Through reading previous customers experiences of tava's on other Amazon retailers sites, I gave the tava a good inspection after washing and drying, and found sticker residue still on the tava. I again washed it a little more thoroughly on the residue spots to finally remove them, ( nothing worse than sticker residue burning on the cooking surface or base of the tava, pans etc. ), then gave the tava a good drying ( tea cloth then kitchen towel ). I personally give all my pots and pans including this tava a light heating to 'prepare' them, for about five minutes if the manufacturer doesn't stipulate pre-heating, then a light oiling on the non-stick cooking surface with a 'high smoke point' oil ( rapeseed or vegetable oil ). I bought this to make roti's, and from what I felt during the light heating of it while dry, I believe it will stay at the temperature I require for making flatbreads without overheating. If it does, I'll simply turn the heat down to temperature required as I go. This is not a tava to turn your back on for any time, when needing to be elsewhere during use, take it off the heat until you return. It's too light to turn your back on. Not 100% what I expected, but I will make it work with my experience in the kitchen and plenty of patience ! Update a week later-Quite disappointed in that the handle has now started to slide about it's axis a little. Only one screw holding it to the base, removed screw, put on some strong liquid glue then joined and re-screwed. A principle I have about the best cookware is that lids and handles made and joined very well are a sign of good cookware, make of that what you will...Down to 3 Stars from 4 for this I'm afraid. Does do though what a tava should in the flat bread making department, it's only to be expected at best !We have been looking for a good Dosa pan and tried different pans both of Indian make and others. The Indian made would either not seat properly on the glass top stove or would deform in few weeks of use. The others which majorly fall under the category of 'pan cake' pans were of no use for making different varieties of dosa, they were kind of made for failure for South Indian Cuisine. There were however one type of pans which we did not try for fear of any damage to the glass top, they are the iron caste pans as they are very heavy. This Mastercook aluminium pan has been a good discovery for us, all types of dosa are very easy to cook and the dough spreads evenly. Right now while writing this review I am enjoying a yummy, crispy thin dosa. Also to be noted is that the build quality, the handle, grip are of very high standards for this pan. Thought it costs 15 quid and there are cheaper makes available I would bet this pan will long last for years to come.Cooking PURPLE CORN FLOUR ROTLA is not the easiest. It requires slow and very even heat for the ROTLA to cook evenly. This is particularly demanding if you have a gas ring!!The MASTERCOOK die cast aluminium non stick pan is perfect !This is the best pancake/crepe pan i have ever had!!! NON STICK! 5 STAR*****just wipe pan with kitchen roll with a small amount of oil, and NOT ONE STUCK PANCAKE! FANTASTIC.DIDNT DISTORT WITH HEAT AT ALL. sits flat on my ceramic hob, can't fault it. would recommend.Good quality pan I ordered wrong size but great response from seller to re order bigger sizeThank you
